TBT and a week from virus hell

My Timehop app on my phone is so much fun! It reminds me daily of just how far we have come in 3 short years. We married, found we were pregnant, lost a precious cousin, had a preemie, and bought a practice. Whew! While some of the memories are very raw with grief and unanswered questions, I'm also reminded of how blessed we are to have such an ornery, motivated toddler. It appears as of one year ago, our baby was learning to walk. I wasn't as good about blogging as time went by, so I'll add some memories as I currently blog. How fun is this? It was only a matter of a week or so and you were on the run!

At the Ollinger house, we LOVE the CMA's and I always look forward to them from the minute they start advertising them. Here's Slate showing his dance moves off during last years CMA's.

On a current note, this week was HELL. Last Thursday, Slate woke up with a fever from his nap. I figured it was teeth or a cold, but Chris insisted I take him to the Dr on Friday. Fly and strep tests came back negative, so we leave bearing the knowledge there's no meds to kill this illness. Courtney came in that day and was a huge help because Slate became sicker than I've ever see him. No sleep, coughing, fever that ranged from 101-104.1. You scared us, dude! She is a critical care nurse and by the grace of God helped me manage your symptoms and get your fever down. We had to resort to acetaminophen suppositories because you refused any oral medication and at the point where the border-line child abuse tricks and wrestling with you didn't work, Court went to CVS and got us the suppositories. Slate, you were pissed, but it worked! We finally were able to get your fever down and you rested as long as you were laying on me. Great snuggles, but no sleep for Mom. It has now been a week and you are finally beginning to eat again. Whew! Glad that's behind us!

You conned Doc McStuffins (Dr Scott) into giving you a sucker while we were at her office. Toot!

Lots of cuddle time....

I knew you were down when you refused to get up and play. You never sit still!

This is how we slept for 3 nights. Elevated in our bed and ON my chest. You don't fit as well as you used to since you are so big. :(

Snuggles with Dad....once again, the only way you would sleep. Thank goodness you are well. Glad that's done.

Maxwells Pumpkin Farm

Dad found a break from harvest and planting and we took you to Maxwells. It's such a cool place, we all had a blast!

You screamed at me to "come on, Mom" when I put you in the wagon. There was no way you were going alone. It was so fun, it takes through a little trail in the corn field.

Beginning to feel like Fall!

Yay for Fall! It's my favorite time of the year! You are obsessed with pumpkins and I'm obsessed with mums, so we ventured out to Coulter Gardens one evening and picked up a few mums and when you saw the pumpkins out in the parking lot, you wouldn't stop talking about them until I let you go explore.

Here's the wreath Mimi's helped me make for the front door. I'm kinda proud of it and you constantly say, "pider, ewwww, lucky!" (Translation: spider, ewww, yucky.

I had this wooden pumpkin painted for the front porch and in obsessed.

Trying really hard to pick up a rather large pumpkin.

Before I could stop you, you had all these pumpkins loaded up for me to purchase.

"Look Mom, Punkin!" You play with all 3 little pumpkins I got you that day. They are constantly carried around and so far haven't broken.

Race for Cure

It's a family tradition for Mimi's to come to Amarillo every year for the Race for the Cure. I serve on the board for our local Susan G Komen chapter and therefore work behind the scenes. Slate now goes with Mimi's and the girls and provides them with extra entertainment. After you are all finished walking, you gather at Crush for a mimosa (or milk) and appetizers.

You adore your Minis and we are sure grateful for her being a 7 year breast cancer survivor.

Mimi's and all her friends at the race.

Just stirring your water with Minis Survivor flower. Geez, you are a mess! My only regret is not getting a picture with y'all that day!

Crafting, cooking and racing

I decided to paint my own Mackenzie Child's-inspired pumpkins this year. Only took me 2 weeks to complete them. However, you decided you needed to paint, too! You did so good and had a lot of fun.

Cooking on the "manly" kitchen set that Miss Jeanne got you.

Playing with all the kids after the Race for the Cure...more photos to follow of the Race.

Daddy Day Care

I went on a girls trip to see some of college girlfriends and your Dad stayed home with you ALL weekend! It's safe to say, you guys had a blast!

Playing with the new tractor Daddy got you before I left. You are rotten!

Just tucking your cell phone in your shorts (pocket), just like Dad.

Serious conversations at the dinner table....sweet and yet, scary moment. Who knows what y'all were scheming.

You love corn dogs! You peel all the breaking off and then yell, "look, Mom! Hot dog!"

You constantly keep us laughing.

Emmy came to visit and so did Mimi's and Poppa!

You were so pumped to see her, you ran all over the airport with excitement when she put you down.

Watching Auntie land. We were so glad she came all the way from Baton Rouge to spend the weekend with us.

You were very concerned about her nose ring, but finally decided to touch it and decided it was "pretty!"

Poppa took us to Kabuki and y'all had a ball discussing the "thunderstorms" they have inside the restaurant.

We then all gathered for Sunday brunch at Public House to celebrate Mimi's birthday.
